Kid’s party games bring a celebration to life. They add a whole lot of fun and all the children get involved.
Children’s games are a great way to break the ice and get kids to interact with one another. When planning party games, remember to keep games age appropriate.
The younger the children, the lower their concentration span. For young kids, keep games simple and easy to understand. It can be tricky enough trying to get them to sit still, let alone focus and participate.
There are loads of party games to choose from for younger kids. The traditional ones like pass the parcel, pin the tail on the donkey and musical chairs are always popular options. They appeal to young children because they’re interactive and don’t require too much understanding to play the game.
You can’t go wrong with these classics!
Pin the Tail On The Donkey
All you need is two different coloured flags. Divide children into equal teams and assign them to different areas of the garden.
The teams are given a limited amount of time to go and hide their flags in the garden. When the flags are hidden, the game can begin.
The aim of the game is to find the enemies flag. If a child gets caught by their opponent while trying to steal the flag, they go to jail. They can only be freed and return to the game once one of their team mates frees them. This is done by tagging them when the opponent isn’t looking.
The first team to capture the enemy’s flag or all of their opponents wins!
All you need is a big bucket or steel bath filled with water. Put a bunch of apples in the bucket/bath. The kids have to retrieve the apples in a limited amount of time using only their mouths. No hands allowed!
The child who manages to get the most apples, wins.
The Chocolate Game
This is how the game is played.
- Put a bar of chocolate on a plate with a knife and fork
- Sit the children in a circle
- Put the pile of dress up clothes in the middle of the circle. Give one child the dice.
- Children take it in turns to roll the dice. If a child rolls a double, they have to put on the clothes, go into the middle and unwrap the chocolate. They try to eat as much of it as possible only using the knife and fork.
