Tetley Masala Chai

Ingredients

2 teabags Tetley Tea
3 Tbs Coriander, whole
1 Star anise
2 Cinnamon sticks, broken
2 tsp Whole black peppercorns
2 tsp All spice
2 tsp Cardamom pods
2 tsp Cloves
2 tsp Dried orange peel, ground
2 tsp Ginger, ground
500ml Water
2 Tbs Vanilla extract

Honey, milk or cream to taste

Method

  1. In a small bowl, combine coriander, anise, cinnamon, pepper, allspice, cardamom, cloves and orange peel.
  2. In a spice mill or coffee grinder, coarsely grind the spices.
  3. Mix in ginger and nutmeg.
  4. Pour water into a medium size pot and add spice mixture.
  5. Bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Add tea and vanilla extract and steep 3 to 5 minutes.
  7. Strain liquid into large pitcher and add honey, milk or cream.

Can be served hot or chilled**
