Rooibos Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients:

LAAGER ROOIBOS SPICE MIX:

1 TBSP Onion flakes
2 teabags Laager Rooibos (loose leaves)
1/2 TBSP Chili flakes
2 TBSP Thyme
1 tsp Rosemary
1 tsp Black pepper
1/2 tsp Salt

TO MAKE SAUCE:

1 1/4 cup Tomato sauce
1/4 cup Brown sugar
1 TBSP Mustard
1 TBSP Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup Molasses
4 TBSP Apple cider vinegar
2 TBSP Rooibos spice mix

Method:

  1. Mix all the spice ingredients in a pastel and mortar until all crushed and mixed well. Set aside.
  2. Combine all the sauce ingredients in a medium saucepan and stir well.
  3. Bring to the boil and then simmer for 20 minutes.
  4. Stir constantly until well blended.
  5. Use it to glaze the meat of your choice over the braai or baste your cooked meat.
